Professional Interpreter Training Program Overview

Program Introduction

The training sessions are interactive and high-energy, incorporating both individual assignments and group activities. The curriculum is resourceful and skills-based, ensuring participants gain practical experience and knowledge essential for professional interpreting.

Curriculum Highlights

Throughout the program, you will learn about the roles and responsibilities of interpreters, ethical standards, various interpreting modes, and more. This comprehensive training serves as a prerequisite for obtaining national medical interpreting certification.

Course Details

This is a language-neutral program conducted in English, welcoming speakers of all languages. No prior experience in interpreting is necessary to enroll.

Participants must demonstrate proficiency in English and one other language. Eligibility requirements include a minimum age of 18 and at least a high school diploma, GED, or an equivalent from another country.

Program Duration and Delivery

The training consists of 37 hours delivered via Zoom and 3 hours conducted in person.

Schedule

  • Week 1: Monday, July 06th to Friday, July 10th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, (live virtual ZOOM)
  • Week 2: Monday, July 13th- Thursday, July 16th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (live virtual ZOOM)
  • Saturday, July 18th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM (in-person) in Louisville, KY (Final Exam)

To receive the certificate for the training, you must attend all sessions and pass the final exam with a grade of 75% or higher.
